Privacy
ScholarCite has no accounts, no database and no advertising trackers. Here is everything that happens to your data.
Stored in your browser
Your reference list and two preferences (the capitalisation option and last style) are saved in your browser’s localStorage under the key scholarcite:v1, so the list is still there when you come back. It never leaves your device unless you copy it.
Lookups
When you search for an identifier, your browser asks the public service directly: Crossref (api.crossref.org) for DOIs, Open Library for ISBNs and the US National Library of Medicine (eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) for PubMed IDs. Only the identifier is sent.
AI features
“Paste a reference” and the style desk send the text you typed to our server, which passes it to an AI model through Vercel AI Gateway and returns the result. We don’t store the text or log it beyond short-lived error logs, and it is never used to identify you. Don’t paste anything confidential.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you.
